Conservative Sharp Wound Debridement Certification Course CSWD-C
A wound bed cannot be assessed when it is filled with necrotic or non viable tissue. Further, non viable tissue may causes increased bacterial colonization, infection, and delay in wound healing. Removal of non viable tissue is vital to wound healing.
Debridement is defined as any method by which non viable tissue, calloused skin, and foreign debris or such materials are removed to achieve optimal wound healing.
